The private pilot

KnownWater is fishing intelligence and planning software for adults aged 18 or older. Access is by invitation and approval. Requesting access does not create an account or guarantee an invitation. The pilot is a developing service: coverage, features and availability may change, and errors or interruptions may occur.

Fishing guidance is not navigation

Plans provide a starting point, not a guarantee of catching fish. KnownWater is not a marine navigation system and does not guarantee that suggested water is navigable, accessible or safe. It does not replace official charts, navigation aids, Coast Guard information, weather services, local knowledge or seamanship. Conditions change, and map layers and forecasts may be incomplete or outdated.

You remain responsible for safe boating, checking conditions and equipment, and deciding whether to proceed. Follow applicable laws, fishing licenses, seasons, bag and size limits, closures, access rights and property boundaries. A suggested fishing area is not permission to enter it.

Your account and contributions

Keep your credentials secure and use your own authorized account. Provide accurate information and only submit fishing records or material you are authorized to share. Avoid unnecessary personal information about other people. Guide locations and derived intelligence can be sensitive; respect the access granted to you.

Submitted trip, observation and feedback information is used to operate the service and develop fishing intelligence as described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use and intellectual property

Do not bypass access controls, impersonate others, interfere with the service, scrape or bulk-extract records, or attempt to obtain private guide coordinates. Do not resell, redistribute or publish proprietary KnownWater or guide intelligence without permission. KnownWater branding, software and protected content remain subject to the applicable owners’ rights; access does not transfer ownership.

Providers and service changes

Authentication, hosting, maps, environmental data and any enabled AI assistance depend on third-party services. Their availability and data quality can change. KnownWater may suspend or terminate pilot access for misuse, security concerns or changes to the pilot.

Service limitations

The pilot cannot promise uninterrupted availability, complete data or particular fishing results. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Updates

These terms are dated and versioned. Pilot requests record the version presented when you accept.
